Greetings
Before we begin, A BIG SHOUTOUT to girls who have already shown the courage to switch to menstrual cups for their happy period (only because the ads call it that 😜).
It was December of 2019 that I decided to give the menstrual cup a try. Well, It was one of the best decisions I took for myself. Not only that, I have now become an advocate of menstrual cups. I was able to make a few people make THE CHANGE in their lives. Guess what, they love it too.
And because it turned out to be the best menstrual product EVER, here I am giving you my experience/ encouragement/ reasons as to why you should switch to a menstrual cup.
IT HELPS YOU FORGET THAT YOU'RE ON YOUR PERIOD
Yes, that is true. It is almost as if you forget that you are on your period. You have to deal with the cramps and pain, of course, but it's easier to deal with it when you can actually control the weird feeling of something coming out of you the whole time. Besides that, you don't have to face the blood every time you visit the washroom.
IT IS THE CHEAPEST MENSTRUAL PRODUCT
If you do the math, a sanitary pad or tampon costs around 2 to 10 INR each. Considering the cost to be 5 INR each, let us say a woman uses 12 pads in a cycle. Which amounts to 60 INR per month, which again amounts to 720 INR per year.
Whereas, a menstrual cup's cost range is 300 to 800 INR which can be used for up to 10 years. So that means if it is bought at 500 INR and used for 10 years. It will cost 50 INR per year, which means 4.16 INR per month.
I guess I can stop persuading you all now 😂
ECO-FRIENDLY
Let us do some math again, It is claimed by various organizations that the plastic used in sanitary pads is non-biodegradable, so it can take 500 to 800 years to decompose. Now consider the age of your periods and the number of pads you must have used approximately. Trust me, that's going to be a lot of non-biodegradable waste.
Whereas, a menstrual cup is made up of medical-grade silicon. It can be used for 10 years and is not a hazardous waste.
NO MORE RASHES AND ODOUR
A menstrual cup is made of medical-grade silicone which has no smell of its own and you should know that the period blood has no odor. It is the sanitary products that smell.
The menstrual cup is soft and without any edges, so there are negligible chances of you getting rashes. It looks absolutely harmless in my personal experience.
IT NEEDS TO BE CHANGED IN 8 TO 12 HOURS
Menstrual cups make you take fewer breaks throughout the days for both leakage checking and changing. If it's a regular flow you can forget about it for a good 9 hours or based on your own flow. You'll get the hang of it in one or two months.
Menstrual cups are a gift from the legend, Leona Chalmers (the inventor). Take it!
I understand it can take a lot of mental preparation, but do your research, read articles, watch videos, feel comfortable, and just go for it. Stay tuned for more articles on menstrual cups and a lot of amazing other things.
You deserve a stress-free period.
Good luck, and let me know if you are ready to make the change and feel free to clear your doubts in the comment section.
Happy Living 💛
