Greetings
There are numerous reasons why women or girls feel scared to try a menstrual cup even after knowing that it is one of the best menstrual products available. One reason exists in everyone's minds but we all deny it, but it is there, at a subconscious level. We all come from different backgrounds, countries, and cultures, and we all have different taboos related to menstruation. Many girls and women don't have access to sanitary pads even today. The girls are even subjected to humiliation and anger when they try to use alternative methods such as tampons or menstrual cups. Moreover, these methods are even considered wrong for obvious reasons
We are surrounded by these thoughts regularly. We end up surrendering to them and give up on the idea of being experimental to find what is best for us. Even though we do not want to believe it, but we have been surrounded by it since childhood, so it is extremely difficult to be ignored.
So let begin and know how we can mentally prepare ourselves for using a menstrual cup
GETTING COMFORTABLE WITH THE CONCEPT
We are aware that a menstrual cup is inserted inside the vagina to collect the blood, and then can be rinsed off when you see fit. So we can achieve a level of comfort by watching too many videos. I would suggest that you watch every video on every platform. The more you watch, the more aware and comfortable you get
TALK TO SOMEONE WHO USES IT ALREADY
I personally didn't have anyone around me who uses a menstrual cup, but if you do, sit and talk. This will help a lot.
In case you don't find anyone, get in touch with me on Instagram. I'll be happy to have a conversation.
KNOW THE PROCESS
There are a lot of sources on the internet available, go through all of them, this will help you familiarize yourself with your new friend and also on how to use it. I would write about it, in detail, but I believe this department can be best understood by watching videos.
The basic process is:
finding the right fold,
finding the right position which enables easy insertion,
identifying when to change (based on flow),
how to remove it, and rinse
how to insert it again.
MY OWN OBSERVATIONS
- You're going to spend a long time in the bathroom for the first time, you will need to figure out what works best for you, which fold, which way to stand or sit because it is different for everyone.
- You are not supposed to feel it inside yourself and if you do there are two reasons for it
2. It is only in your mind, you'll forget it the moment you get busy
- It may leak initially, the only reason for that is that we are unaware of our flow and how many hours the cup should stay on, you master it within one or two cycles.
- Most importantly, you will have to plan everything for some time, for example, traveling with it, as not every place has the privilege of running water or a good washroom. So you will have to plan and organize accordingly until you get used to it.
